The CyPass Micro-Stent device is ideal for treatment of mild to moderate primary open- angle glaucoma, and is implanted in conjunction with cataract surgery. The stent creates a channel for liquids to flow out from the anterior chamber of the eye to reduce intraocular pressure.
The device, in the shape of cylinder, is positioned just below the surface of the eye into the supraciliary space between the sclera and the ciliary body. Designed to lower IOP, the CyPass device has an entry port on one end and a series of holes throughout the body that diffuses the liquid flowing through the stent with minimal tissue disruption.
